The Smith Scholarship LEGACY  GIveAWAY

This scholarship fund was established by the Smith Scholarship Organization, to encourage higher education among young high school senior women. The Smith Scholarship Organization does not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, national origin or ethnicity in the administration of its scholarship funds.
Purpose
The Smith Scholarship LEGACY  Giveaway scholarship is focused on helping students capture their dreams and visions by promoting higher education, and empowering students transitioning to undergraduate studies through financial support.
Criteria
The Smith Scholarship LEGACY  Giveaway offers an equal opportunity to women seniors seeking to attain higher education. This giveaway is not solely based on financial need or academic merit; but seeks students who are well-rounded and exemplify a passion for their career and choice of study. 
 
Criteria for eligibility of The Smith Scholarship LEGACY  Giveaway, is as follows:  
 -Be a U.S. citizen
-Be a female student in grades 9-12 OR Incoming Freshman enrolled in a four-year university for Fall 2020
 -Have a 2.5 GPA or higher
 -Be enrolled full-time in secondary education institution or  a 4-year degree program at an accredited higher educational
   institution 
Guidelines
Students must submit a 500 word essay, a current official transcript, proof of a minimum of 50 hours of completed community service and two letters of recommendations; one of which must be from a current or former academic instructor.
 
LEGACY Scholarship Essay Writing Prompt:
-Express who your greatest inspiration in and why?
-How has this person inspired you to make positive change in your immediate community and worldwide?
-How will obtaining a scholarship help you create a lasting legacy in your career field of choice for generations to come?
-How has virtual learning and utilizing technology contributed to your passion for education. How would the use of technology assist you in completing your academic goals and contributing to your community?

Prize
 Two high school (Grades 9-12) recipients will be eligible receive a tablet to assist with 2020-2021 school year academics. One tablet per recipient. One incoming freshman scholarship recipient will receive a laptop/chromebook to assist with 2020-2021 school year academics. 
Deadlines
The application deadline is August 2, 2020 at 9 am CST, where all materials are to be submitted email in ONE email to [email protected]. All application materials must be in ONE email, the title must be Smith Scholarship LEGACY Giveaway Application. Applications with materials sent in multiple emails will not be considered.
After reviewing applications, the Scholarship Committee  will select the student who will be awarded the scholarship. Awardee will be notified by August 23, 2020.
