The Bessie Mae I am woman scholarship

This scholarship fund was established by the Smith Scholarship Organization, to encourage higher education among women ages 24 yrs to 35 yrs of age. The Smith Scholarship Organization does not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, national origin or ethnicity in the administration of its scholarship funds.
Purpose
The Bessie Mae I AM WOMAN scholarship is focused on helping students capture their dreams and visions by promoting higher education, and empowering students through financial support.
Criteria
The Bessie Mae I AM WOMAN scholarship offers an equal opportunity to all women between the ages of 24 yrs and 35 yrs of age seeking to attain higher education. This scholarship is not solely based on financial need or academic merit; but seeks students who are well-rounded and exemplify a passion for their career.
 
Criteria for eligibility of The Bessie Mae I AM WOMAN scholarship, is as follows:  
Obtained an undergraduate degree 
 -Be a U.S. citizen
 -Have a 3.0 GPA or higher
 -Be enrolled full-time in a 2 or 4-year degree program at an accredited higher educational
   institution 
Guidelines
Students must submit a completed and signed application, a 500 word essay, a current official transcript, and two letters of recommendations; one of which must be from a current or former academic instructor.
 
I AM WOMAN Essay:
 Applicants must write a 500 word essay answering the following writing prompt:

-Express your definition of strength.
-Who is a strong woman in your life and how has she impacted you?
-Detail five characteristics you believe a strong woman possesses.
​-How does faith impact your strength?


Amount
One scholarship recipient will receive an award in the amount of Coming Soon for the year. Scholarship will be awarded once a year; once in January. Student must continue to attend classes and maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher.
Deadlines
The application deadline is Coming Soon CST, where all materials are to be submitted via U.S. Postal Mail.
After reviewing applications, the Scholarship Committee  will select the student who will be awarded the scholarship.
